Name/Hometown:  Kelly Sharkey. Born and raised in Newton Ma, currently living in Branford, CT

How long have you been doing makeup?  Seems like I’ve been doing makeup for as long as I can remember. I have a little sister so I always had someone to practice on.  But professionally, I’ve been doing makeup for about 8 years.

When I’m not doing makeup, I am…… a fourth grade teacher in Bridgeport, CT.

3 random facts about you:The volume on the car radio always has to be on an even number, I have NO IDEA what my natural hair color is, and I would love to be the fourth Kardashian sister.

One thing people may not know about me:  I am super afraid of the dark

What got you started in the beauty industry?  Friends……I had lots of friends getting married around the same time that asked me to do their hair and makeup for their weddings.  Once word spread……I was hooked.

My beauty philosophy is…….less is more!  Highlight one feature and go natural for the rest of your look.

Tell us about your source of inspiration for being creative?  Lady Gaga is absolutely my creative inspiration.  She is not afraid to push the envelope and I so admire that about her.

On my IPOD now is…..Adele….I must listen to her album, 21, at least three times a day.

Who is your beauty icon?  Hmmmm…..that’s a tough one.  I guess it would have to be my sister Katie.  She is the most beautiful woman I know and she always makes it look effortless.

Who is your fashion icon?  Might seem silly but Blake Lively is the first name that comes to mind.  I think she has so much confidence and knows what works on her body.  Victoria Beckham is another.

The one beauty product  I can’t live without:  mascara

My must-have beauty products of the moment I can’t leave the house without jennie fresa’s concealer and my lips are obsessed with Rosebud Salve

My favorite perfume:  Daisy by Marc Jacobs

I would describe my personal style as trendy while trying to hide my problem areas.

My favorite beauty/fashion blog is  Why Jennie Fresa’s blog of course

Right now I am reading: Nantucket Nights by Elin Hilderbrand

My go to manicure color is french

The reason I love working with brides is…There are so many…I love being a part of such a special day.  Being in a room with a bride and all her most favorite people is really an honor.  I love that moment when she sees her hair and makeup all done……that smile on her face is priceless.

One beauty services or product I will splurge on & one I will save on:  I will always splurge on a facial and a pedicure.  I will save mascara.

My guilty pleasure is..the Kardashians’ many reality shows.  I’m obsessed!

My best beauty tip or advice:  no matter your shape, height, size, etc. there are tons of looks out there to flatter everyone.  The trick is knowing what works on your body and what doesn’t.  Just because a pair of jeans buttons doesn’t mean they fit properly.  Be realistic.  Who cares what size the jeans are…..what matters is how they look on you!
